The salt and the light of the world.

In Mathew 5:13, Jesus tells his disciples that they are the salt and the light of the world. This parable teaches us 2 basic truths.

1. Anyone that decides to become a disciple of Christ becomes the spiritual salt of our world. The disciple of Christ learns to preach the word of God, learns to forgive and love his neighbor. This means that the student of Christ learns to tolerate people's flaws, by understanding that everyone has flaws. At the same time, the disciple accepts the guidance of Christ, and his life becomes a wake-up call for the rest of humanity. The student thus tells the good news and brings the light of Christ's love to the rest of the world.

2. To become a disciple of Christ means that the person has initially heard the call of Christ. This call causes a radical change in one’s life. The person is reborn with Christ and becomes a vessel that radiates the light of the love of Jesus. The disciple never forgets that Christ took away the burden of his soul and allowed him to be resurrected with Him. The student's life becomes creative in God's work, his relationship with Christ is realized through acts of love for humanity and that is how the student becomes the salt and the light of the world.
