Stabat mater, which concerns the lament of the Virgin Mary as she sees her Son crucified, has been a source of inspiration for many composers. One of them was the 18th-century composer Joseph Haydn. This work was the first ecclesiastical work of this great composer. A painful musical work that recalls the greatest act of God's love for man combined with the tears of a grieving mother. At one point the text of the play writes "how sad and sorrowful was the blessed mother of the Only Begotten Son." ("O quam sad and afflicta, fuit illa benedicta mater unigeniti")
Haydn reminds us in his work that Christ was sacrificed out of love for us, in order to bridge the relationship between God and man and to reconcile matter with spirit. A work that grips every listener while focusing on the higher spiritual truth, which is the relationship between God and man.
